Classic Neutrals and Layering

If there's two things you need in your wardrobe it's most definitely a flowy white blouse and a grey cardigan. They are classic neutrals that will go a long way in your wardrobe. When in doubt you can always throw on a white top like this and go on with your day. If it's a little chilly just add the cardi for a sophisticated, yet casual look. I am a huge fan of this classic look and it's so easy for anyone to pull together.

When picking a white blouse, be extremely picky and find a great quality one that will last for multiple seasons on end. In some cases I might recommend spending a little more for something like this. However, my top is only $28 and comes in 13 colors. I actually own 3 at this point.. yes, it's that good!

Texas weather is so unpredictable so I'm often trying to find new chic ways to layer. In this post I show you how to style a blouse with a cardigan AND suede jacket without it looking too bulky. Simply tie your cardigan into a knot in the front for a unique layered look!

A simple grey cardigan can go a long way. I almost always throw one on as a small addition to my outfit. The one I'm wearing is very light weight and very ideal for layering.

One way to layer in the fall and winter is to tie a cardigan in a knot in front. Overall it makes the tunic and cardi look like one top instead of two. I like styling it this way because I personally am not a fan of a longer cardigan under a moto jacket.

One of my best purchases this fall was this gorgeous suede moto jacket. I have been able to style it in so many ways so it's definitely worth spending more for a great quality jacket that will last. This one comes in several colors and would be a great piece to add to your wardrobe with any giftcards you stocked up on during the holidays.

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale

Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing holiday with your families. I spent the weekend in my hometown of Longview, TX. It was really nice to spend time with my family and eat A LOT of home cooked meals. We all went and saw the movie 'Why Him' and it was so hilarious and extremely raunchy. I was cringing during some scenes sitting next to my parents, but that's what they get for coming to a movie my brother and I picked!

Anyway, now I'm back in Dallas and back to work finding all the best post holiday sales for you all. Now is the time to spend all those giftcards Santa brought you! I've been searching for all the best deals and below are my top picks. This post is solely based on sales from the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale - and there's SO much good stuff! I tried to narrow it down to all my favorites that I thought you would like as well. The majority of everything you'll see is under $100, so I'll keep this short and sweet so you can get to shopping!

Lace up Sweater + Faux Leather Skirt

Good Morning everyone! Today I'm sharing the second of three ways to style a black faux leather skirt. Did you see my post from last week featuring this same skirt with a blush velvet bodysuit? If not, check it out below! I got so many compliments on the blush bodysuit that was only $13! I'm a sucker for a good deal like that.  Of course it sold out in a heartbeat but don't worry I found a lace blush bodysuit for the same price! I linked it in the below post for you!

Lace up sweaters are on trend this season and what better way to wear one than with a fun skirt like this?  My skirt is currently on sale for only $35 and is THE perfect length. I would say it’s about 3 inches or so above the knee on me (I’m 5’6 and wearing a size 0). You can easily wear it to the office for a 9-5 look and pair with a fun pair of tights if you’re in cold weather – I live in the unpredictable Dallas weather so I usually just wear it as is or with over the knee boots if it’s chilly. I should also mention that this sweater is an absolute gem! I get so many compliments on it and it's such a great price at right under $45. If you're looking for a lace up sweater choose this one - I promise you won't regret it.

Velvet & Faux Leather Skirt

Whitney - blogger-0005.jpg

When I went home for Thanksgiving I was talking with my mom about how fashion makes a full circle and trends always come back in style over time. It was so interesting because she said she used to wear velvet, bell bottoms, and chokers all the time when she was a young girl. Selfishly I wish she held onto all her fabulous fashion so I could rock the same pieces today! How sweet would that be? Someone asks you where you got your velvet jumpsuit and you say "I got it from my mama!" Knowing that makes me want to hoard everything I own so if I'm blessed with a little girl one day I can pass it all down to her. I bet she'd be a fan of this look, I mean who doesn't love blush velvet and faux leather skirts? Velvet is on trend this season and I feel like it's everywhere - including my closet! Can't and won't stop wearing this trend into Fall & Winter !

Are you feeling the velvet vibes? I'd love to hear what trends you like this fall!

I am a huge fan of bodysuits, especially this one since it's only $13! My faux leather skirt is a new fall favorite and will be popping up on the blog a lot styled differently in each post! It's the PERFECT length and can be styled so many ways - dressy or casual!

My pumps are older and sold out but I liked three other styles that I love! I own the second and third pair and all three are under $100. I am loving that block heel on the first pair - so gorgeous!

My jacket is unfortunately sold out, however I found three other styles below that would look great with an outfit like this. Embroidery is on trend this season and I'm pretty sure I need to purchase this middle moto jacket considering it's only $45 and right up my alley!

Sleeveless Sweater

Good morning babes! December is here, and I am officially more unprepared than ever gift wise for all my loved ones! I’ve totally procrastinated on a new level this year. I guess I’ll be running around like crazy this weekend trying to get my life in order and plan out the perfect gifts. But honestly I’ll take any excuse to go shopping so no complaints here!

A new addition to my  fall wardrobe is this cozy sleeveless sweater. The neutral color makes it so easy to style, which is always a plus. The material is pretty thick so it’ll defnitely keep you warm, all you need is a denim cargo jacket or coat and you’re set.
